Resumen

Se presenta una revisión bibliográfica de los odontomas, que son los tumores más frecuentes de los maxilares, tienen una elevada presentación en niños y adolescentes. La falta de erupción de un diente permanente, con persistencia o sin ella del diente temporal, resulta el motivo de consulta más habitual. Los descubrimientos inmunohistoquímicos más recientes han podido explicar la histogénesis de esta enfermedad, cuyo tratamiento siempre es quirúrgico.
